00:00:06.608 --> 00:00:09.132
Welcome to Spotlight for Success by American Book Company.
00:00:09.132 --> 00:00:10.935
I'm Devin Pintosi, your host.
00:00:10.935 --> 00:00:20.000
We are here in San Antonio, texas, at the ASCD-ISTE conference, the biggest national K-12 conference in the United States.
00:00:20.000 --> 00:00:27.855
We are so excited to be here and we have someone here, kaitlyn Alzo, that joins us and she's right here in San Antonio's backyard.
00:00:27.855 --> 00:00:35.014
She's at the San Antonio Archdiocese, at St John Birchman School, and we're so excited to have you on today, caitlin.
00:00:35.340 --> 00:00:36.665
I'm very excited to be here, sir.
00:00:36.880 --> 00:00:38.222
That's wonderful, Caitlin.
00:00:38.222 --> 00:00:39.384
Tell me about your journey.
00:00:39.384 --> 00:00:41.670
What brings you to ISTE and ASTCD today?
00:00:47.560 --> 00:00:48.142
you to ISTE and ASTCD today.
00:00:48.142 --> 00:01:02.313
You know it's a conference that my principal wanted us all to go to, just to get more resources about AI and technology and just fun ways to get the students motivated, but also extra support for the teachers, you know, for us to stay motivated too, because if we're not motivated, the kids definitely are not going to be motivated.
00:01:02.313 --> 00:01:10.650
So you know, I love learning new tools and just gaining technology and different resources that I can bring back to the classroom for my students.
00:01:10.670 --> 00:01:12.581
That's wonderful and I understand.
00:01:12.581 --> 00:01:15.150
What grade level did you teach this last year?
00:01:15.620 --> 00:01:20.246
So I had first grade and it was actually my first year teaching, and now I'm moving to second grade.
00:01:20.328 --> 00:01:22.989
Wow, Do you have any special experiences in first grade?
00:01:22.989 --> 00:01:24.740
You're like, wow, this is why I got into teaching.
00:01:24.740 --> 00:01:26.921
Wow, Do you have any special experiences in first grade?
00:01:26.921 --> 00:01:28.382
You're like, wow, this is why I got into teaching.
00:01:28.382 --> 00:01:29.323
Thank you for watching Spotlight for Success.

00:02:13.711 --> 00:02:15.375
We look forward to hearing from you.
00:02:16.980 --> 00:02:28.551
You know, one that really comes to mind is when I was teaching them money and we played a money game and it was just different amounts of money and they could figure it out with a partner and it was just real competitive.
00:02:28.551 --> 00:02:32.126
But they were super into it and it was just awesome.
00:02:32.126 --> 00:02:33.591
They loved playing money games.
00:02:33.610 --> 00:02:35.296
So that is really awesome.
00:02:35.296 --> 00:02:42.727
Yeah, that's great seeing the kids grasp that, and money is so important, right we gotta figure that one out really quick, so that's, that's wonderful.
00:02:42.727 --> 00:02:43.811
Um, how did you?
00:02:43.811 --> 00:02:46.681
What are you hoping to get out of the conference today?
00:02:47.663 --> 00:02:54.823
Well, today I'm doing a lot of conferences and like lectures that are based off of keeping your teacher motivated.
00:02:54.823 --> 00:03:06.771
How I can stay motivated, how I can stay happy in teaching, because some of those days they get a little long and you know, we just we always have to remember like, hey, put your best foot forward, we're here for a bigger purpose and let's just do it all together.
00:03:07.199 --> 00:03:08.526
Oh, that's so awesome.
00:03:08.526 --> 00:03:12.510
Well, do you have anything else you'd like to share with the ISTE ASCD community?
00:03:13.341 --> 00:03:25.655
I think, just always come into this with an open mind and just ready to learn, because as teachers we're always learning, like our students, and if we're not ready to learn, then we can't really gain any more new ideas and new knowledge.
00:03:25.655 --> 00:03:29.625
So always be ready and motivated to learn, that's awesome.
00:03:29.645 --> 00:03:30.709
Well, thank you so much.
00:03:30.709 --> 00:03:37.594
This is Caitlin Alonso with St John Birchman School in San Antonio, archdiocese.
00:03:37.594 --> 00:03:38.859
Thank you so much for joining us today.
00:03:38.979 --> 00:03:40.546
Thank you, sir, I had a great time, all right.
00:00:06.608 --> 00:00:09.132
00:00:09.132 --> 00:00:10.935
00:00:10.935 --> 00:00:20.000
00:00:20.000 --> 00:00:27.855
00:00:27.855 --> 00:00:35.014
00:00:35.340 --> 00:00:36.665
00:00:36.880 --> 00:00:38.222
00:00:38.222 --> 00:00:39.384
00:00:39.384 --> 00:00:41.670
00:00:47.560 --> 00:00:48.142
00:00:48.142 --> 00:01:02.313
00:01:02.313 --> 00:01:10.650
00:01:10.670 --> 00:01:12.581
00:01:12.581 --> 00:01:15.150
00:01:15.620 --> 00:01:20.246
00:01:20.328 --> 00:01:22.989
00:01:22.989 --> 00:01:24.740

00:01:26.921 --> 00:01:28.382
00:01:28.382 --> 00:01:29.323
00:01:29.323 --> 00:01:32.725
00:01:32.725 --> 00:01:37.049
00:01:37.049 --> 00:01:40.992
00:01:40.992 --> 00:01:58.341
00:01:58.341 --> 00:02:01.507
00:02:01.507 --> 00:02:04.634
00:02:04.634 --> 00:02:08.782
