00:00:06.568 --> 00:00:09.313
Welcome to Spotlight for Success by American Book Company.

00:00:09.313 --> 00:00:10.976
I'm Devin Pintosi, your host.

00:00:10.976 --> 00:00:18.914
We are here at ASCD ISTE in sunny San Antonio, texas, really enjoying a wonderful conference.

00:00:18.914 --> 00:00:20.222
You are here on day two.

00:00:20.222 --> 00:00:23.568
I am here and joined by Stephanie Ranieri.

00:00:23.568 --> 00:00:26.053
Stephanie Ranieri joins us from New Jersey.

00:00:26.053 --> 00:00:32.633
She went to Liberty Corner Schools as a teacher and she has some insights to share today.

00:00:32.633 --> 00:00:34.305
Thank you for joining us today, stephanie.

00:00:34.326 --> 00:00:35.149
Thank you for having me.

00:00:35.149 --> 00:00:36.424
It's a great day to be here.

00:00:36.765 --> 00:00:37.247
Wonderful.

00:00:37.247 --> 00:00:41.011
Can you tell me a bit about what brings you here to ISTE?

00:00:41.560 --> 00:00:43.988
So I am a former third-grade teacher.

00:00:43.988 --> 00:00:54.683
I've been teaching for five years, started as a fifth grade teacher, now in third grade, but also recently decided to want to switch over to the ed tech industry.

00:00:54.683 --> 00:01:01.609
So I thought this would be a great opportunity for me to come explore the different companies, learn about their missions and also just meet some fellow teachers.

00:01:02.011 --> 00:01:02.902
That is wonderful.

00:01:02.902 --> 00:01:09.171
And so what brought that change to say I want to go into ed tech or go into technology?

00:01:09.682 --> 00:01:13.409
So the best thing about being a teacher is the impact that we make on the students.

00:01:13.409 --> 00:01:22.307
So I wanted to take that to a broader scale and I wanted to make a larger impact on educators, students and I love working with teachers.

00:01:22.307 --> 00:01:27.144
That's why I got my master's in ed leadership to be able to have that interaction with teachers.

00:01:27.144 --> 00:01:31.067
That's why I got my master's in ed leadership to be able to have that interaction with teachers, so just want to make a bigger impact.

00:01:31.087 --> 00:01:31.507
Oh, that's so great.

00:01:31.507 --> 00:01:37.174
Can you tell us a bit about your educational journey, why you chose to become a teacher?

00:01:38.075 --> 00:01:45.703
So I was one of those people when they were very younger, one of those kids that would have a school in their basement.

00:01:45.703 --> 00:01:48.733
They would teach their stuffed animals and their friends, and it was just really a passion of mine.

00:01:48.733 --> 00:01:51.221
I loved the teaching aspect of it.

00:01:51.221 --> 00:01:59.849
When I got to college again, it was something that I was very interested and passionate about doing and my journey started at Liberty Corner School.

00:01:59.849 --> 00:02:05.900
And again, I've been teaching for five years and I wanted to again make a bigger impact.

00:02:05.900 --> 00:02:12.413
So I went for my education leadership master degree to hopefully become a principal or supervisor.

00:02:12.413 --> 00:02:15.308
But right now I think I'm just headed in a different direction.

00:02:15.308 --> 00:02:17.324
I want to work more on the corporate side.

00:02:17.806 --> 00:02:18.669
Oh, that's awesome.

00:02:18.669 --> 00:02:21.449
Thank you for watching Spotlight for Success.

00:02:21.449 --> 00:02:26.532
I am Devin Pintosi, chief Operating Officer of American Book Company.

00:03:07.514 --> 00:03:09.186
We look forward to hearing from you.

00:03:10.980 --> 00:03:12.645
And can you tell us a bit about.

00:03:12.645 --> 00:03:16.786
Do you have a special memory from when you were in the classroom working with the kiddos?

00:03:17.649 --> 00:03:22.567
A lot of memories it's hard to pinpoint one.

00:03:22.567 --> 00:03:28.710
I think the best part of being a teacher again is just the impact that you're making on the students.

00:03:28.710 --> 00:03:36.951
And third grade is such a pivotal year because students are coming in and you know they're still young and they don't have too much independence.

00:03:36.951 --> 00:03:42.353
But I think that their transformation from the beginning of the year to the end of the year is so large.

00:03:42.353 --> 00:03:47.050
They become their progress in math and reading and all the subjects just improve.

00:03:47.050 --> 00:03:52.992
So I think, just again seeing the end result of how the students progressed, just the impact.

00:03:53.441 --> 00:03:54.586
That is so awesome.

00:03:54.586 --> 00:03:58.265
And, stephanie, can you let us know?

00:03:58.265 --> 00:04:04.540
Okay, so you're making the transition into the ed tech space, wanting to work on the corporate side, mm-hmm.

00:04:04.540 --> 00:04:09.864
And so how can people contact you if they're interested in speaking with you into the ed tech?

00:04:10.044 --> 00:04:15.888
